It's Elemental
Plot Overview
At 5/29/25 5:21 PM a large arcane crystal was shattered near the town square. Unleashing its energies and effecting an area within a radius of approximately 20 miles (31.2 kilometers) of its location.
Fracture lines split mostly aligned with the magnetic fields of the planet to create four distinct regions based on the four primal elements Fire, Wind, Water, Earth. Changing people and the landscape itself. Within a mile of the zone its a chaotic mix where all four elements are combined.

Plot Information
The Town
The town has been split into 4 main regions, with a core mixed regions. The lines are not hard, wave around, and there is plenty of bending of the zones at the boundaries.
Objects from one zone may be transferred manually from one zone to another, but no further transformations will be happen.
- Earth
Zone: Northern Marsilion
Notable Areas: Docks, Farms, upper part of lake, some farms, 1/2 common grounds
Terrain: Tree and wood in this region is largely petrified. Rocky spires and arches dot the terrain. Pits of fine sand dot the place. Edges of the lake and waterways are largely sandy oasis like a desert.
Architectural Features: Stone largely replaces wooden buildings. Mineral crystals of varying colors project from and are interlaced with architectural features. Street lamps replaced with glowing quartz crystals. Shale tiles for roofs are common. Ornate stone statues dot the city. - Water
Zone: Eastern Marsilion
Notable Areas: Most of lake, MAF Base, Capital Building, 1/2 skywolf camp
Terrain: Still water such as the lake surface tends to be mostly solid on the surface from above, but can be disrupted and passed through with enough force. While under the water, or flowing water, it behaves normally. Large spires and arches of water dot the landscape, including the surface of the lake including water caves. Several geysers exists, including on the lake.
Architectural Features: Many buildings are made of solid opaque water for walls and see through for windows. Buildings made of normal materials often sport waterfall or fountains. stand alone fountains and aqueducts are common. There are standing water in all depressions. - Wind
Zone: Southern Marsilion
Notable Areas: Old NE Park District, Old North District, 1/2 skywolf camp, tech cafe
Terrain: Little large vegetation remains, being windswept grassland with shrubs and the occasional tree. Heavy but dry fog is common. inverted tornado funnel like spires of spinning clouds are common.
Architectural Features: Windmills and wind vanes dot the place. Roofs are replaced with solid clouds, same for many walls and buildings. Spiral patterns are carved or worn into many structures. - Fire
Zone: Western Marsilion
Notable Areas: Community Center, several farms and residences, 1/2 common grounds
Terrain: Lava pools dot the landscape. Jets of fire erupt periodically though spires of brimstone. Leaves of plants are replaces with soft glowing orange fire, but still function the same way as normal. No humidity in the air.
Architectural Features: Fire jets are common from the edges of fences and buildings, as pressure relief from internal fire powering many devices such as lights. Brimstone and igneous rocks are common building materials, several surfaces looking they have been blasted by mild explosions. Wood is burned to charcoal. Smoke constantly emits from several surfaces. - Core
Zone: 1 Mile from town square
Notable Areas: Hospital, town square
Architectural Features: A mix of the above zones, random with no rhyme or reason. The central fountain is replaced with a lava fountain.

The Characters
Characters, PCs, NPCs, and animals and pets have been effected in one of four ways based on which zone they were in when the event started
Characters in the central core area would of been one of the four elements at random. Characters outside the 20 mile raidus, such as the far side of lake, ocean shore, mountains, edge of farms, on hutns, etc. or in other places like pocket dimensions, will be unaffected.
Characters may come and go to other zones freely, it will not change alignments.
OOC NOTE: All characters must be signed up before entering play, even if only to mark as out of town in some fashion
- Element shift to the new one. A character with fire abilities effected by the water element would now have water abilities.
- Transformation in a form based on or represented by that element. This can be full time transformation or a shifter to this form. Willing or not. Triggered or not.
- Gain power to control or manipulate an element. Power and range will be based on current magical powers and abilities.
- Able to transform completely into an element and back at will, though cannot change or deform shape willingly. (Air turns into clouds)

Elemental Strengths
Elemental strengths are on a scale of 0-10 with 5 being normal. As an element grows stronger, towards 10, the terrain effects grow stronger (such as gyser erupt more often, fire jets grow stronger, solid water is harder to disrupt, winds grow stronger) along with the characters powers. Conversely when a number goes down it is harder to use powers and the effects diminish.

Earth - 5
Objects moved from one zone to another, like a fountain brought to the fire zone, will be effected by their original zone's performance, not the one they are currently in.
Characters themselves have a similar alignment strength of 0-10. At 0 they have lost their powers and at 10 their strength has doubled.

Water - 2
Earth - 5

As people use powers in matching zone, their affinity is growing stronger. When they are using it in their opposing zone, its growing weaker. (Fire used in fire is stronger, fire used in water is weaker) The other two elements have no effect.
This is not just effecting characters but the zones themselves. As wind is used in wind, wind grows stronger. As wind is used in earth, earth grows weaker.
For transformations, they should be mostly static baring active effects or derivative powers from them.
The score on the sheet is not absolute. If you know your character has been using/abstaining their powers you may act with an altered score without GM approval. Just let us know so we can update the sheet.

- Change to character — The change occured while Dav was in his plush toy form as a suit by the Earth element. Dav is now a glassy metalic dragon armor that resizes to fit it's wearer. If taken off he assumes normal minidrake shape but remains completely hollow inside. If Dav tries to shift to his flesh and blood form he instead becomes an animated crystal dragon that resembles starwisp crystal with a red tint.

Yet protects her from melting down despite being way past the thermal limit of a starwisp. Luma has basic fire elemental abilities and an overabundance of energy.

- Change to character — Umbra remains a starwisp, but embued with the Earth element his tendrils/tk field have become PHYSICAL and can't turn off. Umbra appears to be an amorphous blob that can shape itself into anything in his TK field reach. He cannot fly without appearing to ride on a black pillar. Umbra has basic Earth elemental powers.

Eli![]() | Jun 27, 2025 6:45 PM Re: It's ElementalThe city has discovered a way to reduce the strength of each element- if users from the opposed element (Air/Earth, Fire/Water) use their powers in one of the zones, it begins to weaken that zone. Citizens are encouraged to make use of their powers non-destructively to try and help restore balance to the city. |
